American education is practical oriented, flexible and rewarding in many ways. There are no courses of studies which are not offered in universities in USA. There are around 3800 colleges and universities including 60% from the top 100 universities from the world. Entry Criteria

Undergraduate programs - 10+2 or equivalent and SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores

Postgraduate program - 4 year bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Engineering courses - GRE scores Graduate Record Examination) score

Past academic record in the same field is preferable although students can change their field of study if they can substantiate it through a strong SOP.

Admission into management field is open to all students. However some universities may additionally require past work experience and/or GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Tests) scores.

Admission Intakes

Main Intake – Fall (August / September) – for all courses

Other Intakes – Spring (January) and Summer (Mid April) – few universities and few courses are available

Few universities offer rolling intakes as well.

Average Tuition fee – $12000 to $28000 per year

Average Living Expenses – $11500 to $20000 per year

Admissions Process for USA Universities

  • Students across the world prefer to apply for US universities, this means huge number of applications. USA universities follow first cum first out basis to release the offer letter (popularly known as I20).
  • It’s advisable to apply at least 8 months before the intake dates.
  • We recommend you apply 5-6 universities or even more as there are thousands of applications for every university.
  • All US Universities have online application facility with an application fees (around $100 or more) paid online only.
  • The documentation for admission is fairly detailed and varies with university.
  • It usually covers academic documents, financial documents recommendation letters, Statement of Purpose (SOP), online score reports of TOEFL, GRE and GMAT etc.
  • It usually takes 3 months for the university to process application. Some specific courses and specializations may take more time.
  • Once the offer letter is received, it is used to apply for the student visa processing.

Getting US Student Visa

You must file an F1 visa application if you plan on entering the US to attend a university or college, high school, private elementary school, seminary, conservatory, language training program, or other academic institution.

To study in USA you need to file a F1 visa application at a US Embassy or Consulate.

Required documents for F1 Visa

  • Application Fee - There is a non-refundable visa application fee ($165) you need to deposit through selected HDFC banks
  • Visa Application Form
  • A Valid Passport
  • Photos - Color photo (a particular size) taken within last 6 months
  • Financial documents showing you have sufficient support from your parents/ legal guardian to support your entire study (fees, travelling expenses and living expenses during your study time).
  • Documents showcasing you will return to your home country after the course. (For example, a job offer, a family business etc)
  • Your Academic certificates, and test scores, experience letter or achievements if any.

Visa Interview

  • Through a visa interview visa office will determine whether you are qualified to receive an F1 student visa. You should arrive at the interview with all of the required documents and receipts, and you should be prepared ahead of time to answer personal questions about your decision to study in the US.
  • F1 visa interview questions often include inquiries about your academic qualifications and choice of course and university.
  • You may be required to prove that you have ties and obligations that would guarantee your return to your home country after your studies in the US.
  • You will be required to prove that you have the means to finance your education. Education expenses in the US are higher than most countries and being able to present a solid financial plan for the duration of your studies is crucial to pass your F1 visa interview.

If your visa application approved, you may be required to pay a visa issuance fee. Digital fingerprint scans will be taken for records. Your passport will be taken so that you can get your visa and you will be informed when you can get it back, either by pick-up or in the post.
